Explore below the different dermatological pathologies that we treat in our office and discover the most appropriate treatment for you.
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that mainly affects the face, manifesting with redness, swelling and the appearance of dilated blood vessels in areas such as the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. In advanced stages, it can lead to thickening of the skin, especially on the nose, a condition known as rhinophyma.
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by the acceleration of the cell renewal cycle, which causes the accumulation of dead cells on the surface of the skin, forming scaly, reddened plaques with different levels of inflammation. Although it is not contagious, it can significantly affect the quality of life of those who suffer from it, both because of its physical symptoms and the emotional and psychological impact it entails.
This condition can appear at any age, although it tends to manifest itself most frequently between 15 and 35 years of age. It is a pathology of chronic evolution with outbreaks and periods of remission, which means that it can improve at certain times and worsen at others due to triggering factors.
Cutaneous papillomas, commonly known as warts, are benign skin lesions caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). This virus infects epithelial cells, causing an abnormal growth that manifests as small bumps on the skin.
Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles that can occur in any area of the skin where hair grows. This condition usually originates when the follicles become infected, commonly by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, although other microorganisms such as fungi or viruses may also be involved.
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are infections that are transmitted predominantly through sexual contact, whether vaginal, anal or oral. These diseases can affect people of all ages and genders, and their incidence has been increasing in recent years, representing a significant public health challenge.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that mainly affects areas with a high concentration of sebaceous glands, such as the scalp, face and chest. It manifests itself through redness, scaling and itching and can vary in intensity over time with periods of flare-ups and remission. Although it is not a serious or contagious condition, it can be annoying and affect the self-esteem of those who suffer from it. The appearance of seborrheic dermatitis is related to several factors, including excessive sebum production and the proliferation of certain microorganisms on the skin.
Although it usually appears in adulthood, it can also affect infants in their first months of life, manifesting as cradle cap, which disappears spontaneously with time. In adults, however, it can be a recurrent condition that requires specific treatment and care for its control.
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that manifests with intense itching, dryness and redness, and can affect people of all ages, although it is more common in childhood. It is a complex pathology, with periods of outbreaks and remission, which can significantly impact the patient’s quality of life due to the discomfort it causes and its possible relationship with other allergic diseases, such as rhinitis or asthma.
Although it has no single cause, there are multiple factors that contribute to its development, from genetic predisposition to environmental elements that can trigger or aggravate symptoms.
Atopic dermatitis is a multifactorial condition influenced by different elements that affect the skin barrier and the immune system.
Skin cancer is a malignant proliferation of skin cells that develops mainly in areas exposed to the sun, although it can occur anywhere on the body. It is one of the most common types of cancer and, if detected early, usually has a favorable prognosis.
Alopecia, commonly known as hair loss, is a condition that can affect both men and women of various ages. It is characterized by the reduction or absence of hair in areas where it normally grows and can manifest itself in different ways depending on its cause and evolution.
Although in many cases hair loss is progressive, there are effective treatments that can slow its progression and stimulate hair growth.
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease that is highly prevalent worldwide, with up to 80% of people suffering from it at some point in their lives, especially during adolescence.
Acne often becomes chronic into adulthood and is increasingly common in adults over 25 years of age, especially in women and in smokers.
The cause of acne is multifactorial: genetics, sebaceous hypersecretion due to androgen stimulation, proliferation of certain strains of Propionibacterium acnes, changes in the cutaneous microbiota and alterations in immunity.
There are factors that can aggravate or even promote the appearance of acne outbreaks, such as emotional stress, smoking, a diet rich in industrial saturated fats, hormonal alterations, some medications or the use of unsuitable cosmetics.
